Dear friends,
Last time I arrived in Australia I could barely walk. My heart condition made me so weak and short of breath.
This week, I’ll be getting on a plane again to come back to your beautiful country as special guest at the Run Melbourne fun run and walk on Sunday 28 July.
I hope you can come along. I want to show you how much my life has changed since Timor-Leste Hearts Fund gave me heart surgery in 2017.
I feel like a miracle has happened to me. Now, my heart, my lungs and my legs are strong. I can have fun with my family and friends. I can play soccer and run. I’m in training to run 5km at Run Melbourne alongside volunteer cardiologist Dr Simon Eggleton.
Thank you for giving me a second chance at life, and inviting me to the run. I’m looking forward to exploring Melbourne and seeing the people, culture and lovely places.
I can’t wait to meet you at Run Melbourne on Sunday 28 July! (You’ll find the Timor-Leste Hearts Fund marquee on River Terrace, behind Federation Square.) Your friend, Timotio Freitas
PS: As well as running 5km, I’ve set myself a goal of raising $1500 to help another patient like me have life-changing heart surgery. Please go to my fundraising profile today to donate.
