TLHF Membership – strengthening connections to drive greater outcomes

We value our relationships with our community of supporters who collaborate to improve access to heart health services in Timor-Leste. The strength of our connection with our passionate and committed supporters, stakeholders and volunteers has saved lives and improved the quality of health for hundreds of people living with heart disease.

We invite our dedicated supporters, stakeholders and volunteers with an ongoing association with Timor-Leste Hearts Fund to consider becoming a member.

Your membership will drive greater impact

Our members have greater involvement with driving better outcomes of the work we do by:

  • having a greater say in the strategic direction and governance of Timor-Leste Hearts Fund through the election of board members,
  • attending informative and engaging TLHF events, including member networking events,
  • receiving member updates throughout the year,
  • attending formal meetings of members, and
  • demonstrating your ongoing support for the vital work of TLHF.

Membership details

  • Membership is for a two-year term, following which a member may apply for renewal of their membership
  • Annual fees are:
    • Free for Timor-Leste nationals residing in Timor-Leste.
    • AU$50 for individuals resident in Australia (or equivalent of AU$50 for other countries).
    • AU$100 for organisations.
  • We are aiming for a diverse range of members and consideration will be given to ensure various stakeholder groups are represented appropriately.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for membership, an applicant must demonstrate how they meet TLHF’s membership eligibility criteria as set out below:

Individual membership

The individual:

  • is a fit and proper person;
  • has demonstrated significant support for the objectives of TLHF; and
  • is not a paid employee of TLHF

Organisational membership

The organisation is:

  • a supporting, sponsoring, supplying or partnering organisation to TLHF;
  • not likely to bring TLHF into disrepute by association; and
  • not involved in the business of gambling, alcohol, tobacco, fast food, environmentally harmful industries, industries which may harm health or welfare, or industries exploitative of labour in Timor-Leste.

Applicants for individual membership, can demonstrate significant support for the objectives of TLHF by various means, including but not limited to:

  • Having made a substantial time contribution to the work of TLHF (e.g. at least 20 hours of volunteering);
  • Holding a formal volunteering role for at least 12 months;
  • Having made a substantial financial or in-kind contribution to the work of TLHF;
  • Being a regular or ongoing donor (over at least the last 3 years); or

Having demonstrated connections to heart health and healthcare in Timor-Leste (e.g. providing on-the-ground healthcare in Timor-Leste).

How to apply

Applications for TLHF membership are open each year in October.

  • You can apply for membership here. As part of the application form you will need to declare that you will at all times during your membership (if approved):

(1) support the objectives of TLHF as defined in the constitution;

(2) abide by the values of TLHF; and

(3) uphold the duties of a Member as set out in the TLHF Membership Regulation.

  • All membership applications will be reviewed and submitted to the TLHF board for approval in October.
  • All applicants will receive notification of the outcome of their application by the end of November, at which time membership fees will be payable.
